Charco del Palo in the past and present

...or how things are changing over time. The first photo shows an aerial view of Charco del Palo about the mid-80s. You can see right below our complex Las Piteras and Evanatura, and in the picture's center at right the small complex Charco Natural, both in the first line to the Ocean. Also our tidal pools is seen at the bottom right of our picture. Most of the bungalows and apartments rented today to vacationers were not even built when this photo was taken.

The second photo unfortunately doesn't shows the same camera angle (strictly speaking, we are looking here exactly from the other side to Charco del Palo), but you can clearly see how the little seaside resort has grown in the last 30 years.

The third photo I have posted here to see that not only houses but also greenery grew when you compare how desert-like the landscape was once.

The beginnings of Charco del Palo date back to the 70s, the first buildings emerged when tourism on Lanzarote just was starting. In addition to the urbanization in Famara, already built at the end of the 60s and Puerto del Carmen in the south of the island, Charco del Palo is in fact among the oldest tourist facilities on Lanzarote. And despite everything, thankfully nice, small and quiet remained without hotels and without tourist buses...
