The Garden of the Hesperides

This years October rainfalls slowly are taking effect: Our beautiful island Lanzarote becomes green again. I made these photos in a barranco during a walk, and because of some reasons I had to think spontaneously of the Garden of the Hesperides, "where fruits and flowers are smelling in the breeze of the Atlantic" - Plato, Herodotus and Plutarch described it like that. And I had to think also of Pliny, perhaps he also was encouraged by such a sight, to call the Canary Islands the "Insulae Fortunatae", the "Islands of Blissfulness"

Anyway, nearly every year I am surprised about the growth force of the nature on our lava covered volcanic island of Lanzarote. And may be it's just the beginning for this year...

Have photos filed in our gallery Lanzarote green, there are still a few more of them.
