New entry requirements for the Canary Islands

New entry requirements for the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands local government announced yesterday that new regulations for entry to the islands will soon apply. These will probably be announced today in the Canarian Official Gazette (Boletín Oficial de Canarias) and will come into force a few days later. The new entry requirements are as follows:

Holiday guests who come to the Canary Islands must bring a negative test for Covid-19. It does NOT have to be a PCR test, it can also be an antigen test, a so-called rapid test. The test must not be older than 72 hours upon arrival and should ideally be taken in the country of origin. The costs must be paid by the holiday guest.

A quick test costs around 20 EUR, and can also be done at the departure airport, as far as my information.

We are only allowed to give apartments to holiday guests who can show such a negative test. If not, the test must be rescheduled here on site, which can be difficult under certain circumstances. But we are working on a solution to make this possible. The providers of the holiday apartments are responsible for the correct handling.

It is also mandatory for holiday guests to download the free app RADAR COVID onto their smartphone.

We hope that you will not be put off by this measure and we look forward to welcoming you on Lanzarote!
